Why aren't there more humans as human as you?

Why aren't there more humans
as human as you?
Population explosion notwithstanding,
'humans' only a few?

Is it a case of 'I just get
what I deserve'?
Why can't we all, our innocence,
for longer, preserve?

I seek no God, no manifestation
of Divinity,
I will be content with even
glimpses of humanity....

Give me the power to sustain!
To never succumb!
Let me not follow in others' footsteps,
Let my heart never go numb!
